Following some damage sustained during a recent move, I decided to create a digital archive of my sculpture Freed, Stabbed (2019). Inspired by a fellow graduate student’s work with Gaussian Splatting, I began exploring this technique as a way to preserve and reinterpret the piece volumetrically. This experiment marks the beginning of a broader reflection on the fragility of physical artworks and the potential of digital preservation.
